Rafter J Water and Sewer Replacement
From 2008 to 2010, Westwood Curtis Construction completed nine phases of water and sewer replacement work within the Rafter J Subdivision in Jackson, Wyoming, addressing widespread infrastructure deterioration caused by challenging soil and groundwater conditions.
Project highlights include:
Replacement and repair of deteriorated water services, valves, hydrants, and saddles affected by electrolysis
Rehabilitation of sewer mains impacted by groundwater infiltration and failing manholes
Work performed in high groundwater conditions, often within feet of the ground surface
Majority of construction completed during winter months to manage groundwater challenges
Use of specialized construction methods including:
Trenchless service replacement
Horizontal boring
Vacuum excavation
Injection grouting
Targeted open excavation
This multi-phase project demonstrates Westwood Curtis’s ability to execute complex underground utility rehabilitation in difficult environmental conditions while maintaining safety and system integrity.
